Whole House Shut Off Valve Project in Yukon, OK
This project was located in the 11800 block of Ashford Drive in Yukon,OK and was performed at the request of a repeat client. A Perfect Fit Plumbing & Gas was contacted on a Sunday evening and asked to assess the sound of running water in a closet area. The closet area also accommodated a whole house shut-off valve, which no longer functioned, and was seized in the open position.
"A Perfect Fit" Plumbing & Gas offered 2 viable solutions, the less expensive being simply to hammer up the closet floor, find the leak, and replace that section of pipe because I knew the compromised section of pipe was close to the incoming water valve. The other option offered was to take the pipe over-head to the attic and then tie-in to the nearest manifold where the distribution runs to. This particular attic area had its own specific challenges and would not be as cost effective as making the repair in the closet.
As is the case with many of us, money was tight so my client chose the slab repair, which included a new whole house shut-off valve, opening the floor, removing all deleterious material, the replacement and protection of the compromised section of pipe, and the rough concrete patch in the closet floor. Before laying the carpet back down they needed to add 1/2 gallon of thin-set for a like new floor surface.
The project turned out great, with a minimal amount of dust and as always with the standard 1 year guarantee that we provide at "A Perfect Fit" Plumbing & Gas.
